As of July 16, 2008, Noah Benjamin Hui is the winner at 51 votes, 40%. Those that voted for Benjamin, don't worry. We still might call him Ben. Half of our family is calling him Noah and the other half is calling him Benjamin. I think we will know as soon as we see him. For now, he is our sweet Noah Benjamin Hui.
Noah means: Rest and peace. We pray that he will have peace in the knowledge of our sovereign Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We pray he will be called of God to do amazing things for His Glory.
Noah in the Bible was called to an amazing task. Noah was a good and honest man who loved the Lord with all his heart. He was asked of God to do something that the world thought was insane: build a very large boat, bring two of each kind of animal, invite everyone on earth to join him, get inside and shut the door. Only Noah, his wife, his sons and their wives joined him. They were the only ones who "believed" in God's promises. They were the only ones who did not perish in the flood.
The true story of Noah's Ark and the rainbow at the end of the story represents "new beginnings" and God's promise to always love us. Our little one will have a "new beginning" and a new life with his forever family.
Benjamin means Son born in the south. In Genesis 35:18, Jacob named his son Benjamin because all of Benjamin's brothers were born in the north and Benjamin, the baby of the family, was born in the south. The translation for Benjamin is "son of my right hand". This was explained as meaning Jacob was facing the east and his "right hand" was facing the south. Our little guy is far south of China as he could be. He is 50 miles north of Vietnam. He's for sure a southern boy.
Hui means Bright or To Shine. We pray that he will shine brightly for Jesus.
In my journal, on March 2, 2008, I wrote this prayer for our little guy:
Our son born in the South, may you have peace in the knowledge of your Sovereign Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and may you shine brightly for Him always.

His Personality...
Baby is a sweet and happy baby. He already amazes us with his determination. Even with his missing hand, he crawled and walked right on time. They say he is a very smart and sweet. He's not missing anything!
His name...
We will keep his Chinese name as one of his middle names. Hui means Bright or To Shine. We pray that he will shine brightly for Jesus.
His first middle name will be Benjamin unless we choose this as his first name. I have always loved the name. It ranks in the top 30 names and has always been a great name. So far, we know that his name will be:

If we use Benjamin as his first name, we have another decision to make. All our middle names start with a "B" so then we need to pick a name that starts with "B" that sounds right with Benjamin. Maybe we wouldn't give him a middle name that starts with "B". AND whatever name we choose for a middle name, has to sound right with Hui (pronounced hway).
We would call him Ben if we used Benjamin as his first name.

Corey (or Korey) Benjamin Hui
I've always liked the name Corey and it's not overly used right now.
Corey means: Peace of God. I think the combination of Corey Benjamin sounds so great together. Our Peace can only come from knowing Him. Corey also represents our peace in the knowledge of our sovereign Lord and savior Jesus Christ. We pray he will be called of God to do amazing things for His Glory.
Caden (or Kaden) Benjamin Hui
The name Caden is a popular name. The spelling Caden with a "C" ranks 91 and Kaden with a "K" ranks 92. The two of them together would put them ranking 50, which is somewhat popular and rising. It's such a cute name. I've found two different meanings for the name Caden.
Spirited Fighter or Spirited in Battle (one who defends with energy, animation or courage). Our little guy has already been a "fighter" in life showing his nannies his determination to keep up with his friends.
Peacemaker, a Confidant (Confident, trustworthy: one to whom secrets are entrusted). It's funny that the meanings are so different. I guess in some ways, you have to be confident and trustworthy to be a peacemaker or spirited fighter. The meaning could be vigilant peacekeeper! In the Bible, we are told many times to valiantly pursue peace! Our own American soldiers have to be courageous in their peace-keeping efforts!
We pray he is a strong defender and finds his confidence in his faith in Christ. We know he will accomplish all his heart desires and all that God calls him to do. We pray he will stand up for what is right, defending it boldly while taking God's peace to all the world.
As I'm going through the definition of each name and working through the process, I've realized that all the names we have chosen, each represent peace. Amazing! I did a Bible search for the word 'peace' and 100s of verses appeared concerning peace.
Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of God.
John 14: 26-28 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
